Hello fellow members of this fab site!

Ive just literally bought my first detector, a (bounty hunter quickdraw 2) for a reasonable £130 starter machine.

Now i am busting to get out and use it! until i started researching metal detecting, to the outsider it would seem as simple as waving stick over the ground and waiting for the beep (no supermarket sweep pun intended) how wrong that theory is.

Basically im trying to absorb as much information as possible but am interested to know when the next meet up is as i would love to come along and get detecting!

Hi Guys,

Im from the cwmbran area. Thanks for all the welcome messages.

Ive recently become aware of some archaelogical sites in cwmbran so may check them out on the weekend! literally a 5 minute walk! and i never knew about it!

either that or a trip to the beach may be in order!

one question...does wet grass or rain effect the metal detectors behaviour?

Rain or wet grass does not affect the performance , just check your coil is water proof , and your control box is covered , a simple freezer bag will do the trick
