Paul an Lisa, thats not strictly correct, !

There are top of the range detectors out there that do have an edge over their rivals.

Phil is right as well, we all have to be comfortable and confident with our respective tectors or we will not find the goodies.

Minelab have a very good sales team and seem to corner the market in brainwashing most of us into buying their tectors.

There doesnt appear to be any other rival manufacturer prepared to take on the media sales like minelab do.

I have just bought two chinese made tectors, imported and just waiting for a fine day to test them against expl se.

They both have a good spec, supposedly go 1.5metres  Roll Eyes yet less than £100 each !

UMMM 1.5m. you wouldn't be able to lift the coil, it would be just over a meter square Grin (laws of physics)

I have to agree Paul/Lisa you wouldn't touch a Garrett after reading that but they are great little machines. Check the results for the Sovereign Elite it makes it sound as if it's a stick, I've owned all the sovereigns down the years including the Elite and the Gt and in my view there is nothing between them as far as performance is concerned, but look at the difference in the results. Something wrong there.

I agree whole heartedly 1.5meters  Roll Eyes

I have them and they re a little plastic ky, the search coil is larger than a wot coil but not as heavy. I repeated the depth, but but I am not a fool, i think they placed a square alliminimum (2many m's) in the ground and assessed depth on that, it will be
interesting to see what depth they will go on silver hammered, time will tell  Grin

For the money, its worth a little speculation,

I agree chef, the results for the elite were dreadful, they are still one of the best tectors for beach use and as an alrounder. especially as an ears only tector.

One wonders who is behind these results.??

It all boils down to the same thing everytime, you have to put the coil over a good target ! If it aint there you wont find it no matter how costly the tector  Grin
