Does any one here use a database on their pc to keep a record of their finds? If so, can you recommend a database to use?

Is this the kind of thing you have in mind imnotin ?  Here is a screen print of a finds database that I am working on - the drop down arrows give a menu of pre-defined values relating to each field next to it - eg Period Age.  Once the entries are put into the database, then you can search by any of the fields.  Sorry about the quality of the image - it's just a screen print saved as a .jpg file.
This will take a bit of fine tuning, and I am not expert enough to make a pretty 'front end' to the database - perhaps another DW member can help me.

imnotin i just save all pics to  relevant folders. eg. coins>roman, hammered, milled. artifacts> roman , medieval. beach finds etc etc etc then save them all in my detector finds folder in my Documents.
there is some software out there from Ginkoware called i-detect which i believe is free to download thro a cracked torrent.
dont know if you caught the recent topic re: databases , but admin may be looking into the possibilty of having our own on this site. anyway hope some of the above helps in some way
