thx peeps, I think its because you have to be an outdoor person in the first place for detecting and you cant get much more outdoors than fishing lol

.. and there's me thinking that the only reason fishermen took up detecting, was because they stood more chance of catching something with a detector than a rod!!!

oh well, you live and learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!

greetings from one detangler to another..... i think what drives us is the fasination of having a glimps into another world ....to see into the underwater world or with detecting, to glimps into a past which has long since past !

I was detecting a few weeks ago in some heavy rain and for some reason i thought to myself about the previous evening going past a golf course and saying to my mrs " look at those idiots playing in the rain " ! yeah i know.... what a hypocryt lol.... anyway though Whats you thoughts on what drives us to pursue our hobby sometimes in freezing wet conditions wether it be detecting or angling HuhHuh

What drives me ? easy the wife lol. The reason I first started was due to that foot and mouth outbreak a few yrs ago couldnt fish anywhere. So ended up getting a cheap detector and going to the beaches, common , parks. It was a treasure ace 100 i think. Of course with the internet I started reading up on it tips etc, First tip get a better detector lol. It is also something we can do together, tbh Lisa prefers it more than me I can take it or leave it as I still have fishing (or I did have untill she got this new machine). Personnally I enjoy a few hrs out now and again, but her she will go all day everyday if she had her way. What you say about the rain is also so true, being a bricklayer first drop of rain and its straight home "rained off". fishing rod in my hand and I,ll stand out in it all day/night, strange innit lol. I do like that word you got there "detangler" has a ring to it
