I was just wondering if members of the site belong to fid or the ncmd and what the differences are between them, i have been a member of fid for over ten years and think it would be intresting if members of both could explain what benifits they have had from belonging to the bodies.

I'm a member of F.I.D fella , dont really know the difference. I know R.A.R.E  push F.I.D and S.C.A.N  promote NCMD  but can you join these clubs if you have the one they do not push/support ?

Rob s you know i am a member of the llanelli club and we used to promote fid but that was because of the insurance as they now both offer this, as long a member belongs to one or the other its ok.

Generally, each club wants it's members to join whichever body the club is associated with.  There is a difference in the cover period between FID and NCMD - FID runs January to December and NCMD runs April to March.  There can potentially be a period when a member is not covered at all - say for example a member of RARE joined Cardiff Scan in April, then did not renew his/her membership with RARE the following January, then there would be 3 months when the Scan club member did not have any third party insurance.  Each club wants to ensure that all of its members are fully covered by insurance whilst a member of the club.

To be honest, I don't really know the differences between FID and NCMD - from articles I have read myself I see NCMD seem to do a lot of work in promoting the hobby in Government dealings.

Thanks Debbie that was a good post and explained a lot i did try to get some info from the ncmd but they failed to reply but i agree that the ncmd do seem to be doing more than fid. Perhaps someone from both bodies would like to comment and we could have a discussion about both of them and you never know we could all get info about what is happening in the hobby at a higher level.
