detectingwales SYMPTOMS:

1) All consuming interest for your treasure hunting hobby.  

2) A sensation that this is not just a hobby; it is serious business and God help whomever gets in the way.  

3) You can't think about anything else, night or day, on the job or off, no matter what you do you can't turn off the constant scheming, plotting and planning.  

4) The undying belief that around the next bend you'll find what you've been searching for; the next shovel full of dirt will prove to be the one to reveal the gold hoard that will make you rich.  

5) You begin neglecting family, friends, chores, or your job.  

6) All your money goes to the consuming interest.  

7) Your temper is on edge all the time.  

8. You believe everyone is sneaking around trying to get at your treasure or gold, following you to the farm/land or treasure site.  

9) Your family is a hindrance. Your friends are slowing you down on your way to riches.  

10) You seriously consider doing harm to those who come too close to your territory(farm).  

Any detectorist would do well to take stock when the fun has gone out of their hobby.

HOPE FOR THOSE WITH detectingwales SYMPTOMS:

1) If you find yourself getting mad when you're out treasure hunting — if you get upset about anything at all, drop everything and go home. You're out of control.  

2) If you have even a single thought of doing harm to those who come too close to your FARM, time to quit treasure hunting all together for awhile. Back off. You need space to think about what's happening to you.  

3) Talk to someone who understands what's going on. Find out what your options are. Remember, there is a way out. You can kick it.  

4) Once you've put enough distance between you and the FEVER to be able to think, force yourself to begin to take up your life where you left off. Clean your yard,garden & garage.Repair broken fences.Start talking to the wife once more.Getting busy and getting on with life will help keep your mind off the problem.  

5) Make amends with family and friends. Tell them what happened to you. Tell others. Keep talking.  

6) Realize there is a power higher than yourself, tap into the power in a way that makes sense to you.(only applicably if you`re religious)
