Found my first after about 5 months in February 2003, on Cardiff Scan Club land. It was a Lizzie threepence in terrible condition, but still remember the feeling, and could still show you the exact spot where it came up.

Here it is - the head side is completely gone.

My first hammered was this Fella Kev, a token and I think 13th century ( correct me if I am wrong ). Taken 2 years to find the next and then I find Two in three trips. I suppose thats how it goes. Not a coin but hammered is hammered

It took 9 months to find my first hammered, a Edward III penny Durham mint, i will never forget that moment, there was a couple of inches of snow on the ground and the last two signals were shotgun cartridges, i was using my minelab sovereign and the next signal sounded just like another shotgun cartridge, i dug the plug out and checked the hole, no signal, so i checked the plug and the signal was there, gutted i ripped the plug in half and expected to find the cartridge, but out popped the little silver beauty, after your first they come quite regularly, it's just getting that first one.
