I like Malcolms' idea - a JCB with a big bucket fitted and dig 6 foot trenches and detect over the spoil heaps  Grin It would sure work for me!  Rob - with your bad back, you could still dig - I'll hire you as my 'personal JCB operative' - just think - axe-heads, torcs, hammies ...............
