I found this whislt out with my brother in the field next to the one with the lead cloth seal. in the spinks book its exactly the same as the guinea 1788 but is should be made of gold which it clearly isnt. its also very thin like some of the tokens i have seen. so again guys any help would be great.

Very nice and very unusual. You are right about the guinea and my best guess would be a token of some kind.

Yes - it's a gaming token. The scalloped edge is unusual, perhaps it was home-made.

gaming token sounds about right, it seems that the shape round the outside must have being done by hand, as it cuts out some bits of the letters, outher thatn thay its a replica of the guineas, thanks again guys. the bad news is i droped it and cant find it on the floor in the attic Cry

Its a gaming token mate that has been doctored at some point similar to the photo below of numerous ones that I bought at auction a while ago.

Nice find though

This was a while ago Digga - I think I picked them up at Anthemeas Auction house in Cardiff - can't remember. Mum and Dad are in the trade and let me know if there is anything they think I may like. My house is full of old rubbish - it may even have been fleabay thinking about it!

It does my wifes head in! Her best expression to date is when I came home from an auction in the Copthorne about 6 years ago with a Spanish Civil War deactivated machine gun! Her face was priceless. Shocked
