Fabulous finds. I'm still trying to get my head around the value of these items, not so much the monetary value which must be jaw dropping but the rarity of these things.

It says in the write up that 2 years ago the British Museum bought part of a sword from that period for £125,000. The Staffs hoard contains 310 sword parts  Smiley Smiley Smiley

There was bad news though. The field had a new owner having changed hands recently. The previous owner must be suicidal  Sad Sad Sad Sad

Jon - just heard about the price of the detector today - as you say, £2.50 from a car boot sale !!!  The saving grace on this though is that the field had just been ploughed and the initial item(s) was/were found just under the surface.
Just goes to show though, if it is buried in the right place and someone walks over it at the right time - it can be found  Grin

Anyone know what detector it was? As Debbie said it was just on/under the surface but it didn't need an E Trac  Shocked
