just a thought about making a detecting wales book where it could have all pics and history of our finds and a little bit of info about them as well as the detecting code of conduct . and possibly a good way of advertising this site. whats your opinions

Oooooo bloody good idea , could also sell advertising to offset some of the cost , code of conduct , I like it fella , well done, could do a series of case stories about members that have helped farmers and people to find lost items , even where members have helped the police.

What about rather than a book a monthly magazine.... a welsh based detecting Magazine for an internet based forum.

I don't want to put a damper on anybodie's ideas because the people on this forum have had some crackers in the past. I did wonder though, why go to the trouble of producing a monthly DW magazine when you could just log on to DW and post all the stories, news and photographs at no cost whatsoever?
I'm assuming that you would need to recoup the cost of creating a magazine somehow. I just can't imagine anyone shelling out their hard-earned to read something that they could have read on DetectingWales.com for nothing.

i think the main purpose of the mag would be to advertise detecting wales and possibly the local detecting clubs you can put a lot more in a mag than you can fit onto this site advertising wise which would generate more  income to pay for the publishing  but it is only an idea

I'm with crashland on this one - who is going to buy the magazine?  How would it be distributed?  Who is going to edit and print it?
Without a named individual or group of individuals, the following tends to happen:

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

"There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.

Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done"

Just a thought. Wink
