I have a Kenwood TH-F7E Hand Held Transceiver/Scanner, this is one of the best Hand Helds that money can buy & is crammed full of useful tricks.

I'm looking to swap this for a Laser Rapier detector that like the Scanner must be in good clean working order.

You can listen to virtually anything from Baby Monitors, Fire Brigades, Civilian Aircraft, Military Aircraft, Trains, Security Companies, Water Board, Formula One Cars/Pits, TV Broadcasts, Radio Stations, Marine Band etc etc etc.
NB: you will not receive many Police bands now due to them operating on the new digital Tetra system.

Listen to 2 Channels at once, name the Channels, scans for activity above & below the frequency you are listening to.

Can be programmed by hand or very simply by a small PC programme that links the Scanner to your Computer via a USB lead provided.

See the link below for further details while I go look for the Manual.

Hiya Phil, the skies the limit really depending on what your after!
You can get new from about £100 up to over the £1000 pound mark, you can receive almost anything that's transmitted from .5Khz upto 1.3Ghz (no Gaps) & you can also change the receive mode ie: USB,LSB,MW,FMW,WFM etc & you could pick up the walkie talkies but you'd need some idea of the frequency they operate on!
You can also Transmit on this one on the Ham Radio Band.
Regards
