Well folks after chasing a signal twice in my last two times out and spending what seemed like an eternity trying to pinpoint the signal when along comes Casa dos and whips out his pinpointer and finds it in about 3 seconds. This purchase had to be made.

I am on my third whites pin pointer (bulls eye ) its a brilliant piece of kit when it is working.

In the end, waste of money, not reliable always breaking down.

Howmuch is a garret pin pointer ? Bulls eyes are approx 59 !

Although pro coil has greatly improved pin pointing on explorer, there are times with very small targets in grass /soil sand etc, when you need something else  Grin

The Garrett is around 89 but they are fairly reliable and rain proof.

The Whites has a terrible reputation for reliability which is odd as you would think the would want something a cut above.

I met someone who bought a crate of the standard pinpointers for 3 a unit (delivered dockside !!) from a Singapore distribution company. Brand new but you get no warranty. You could also get the Chinese cheap detectors for a few pounds and have your name on the decal for free. So you could have "Outlaw" the new name in detectors.

I have sung the praises of the Garrett on a couple of previous threads and will do so again  Grin - a great probe - it does what is says on the box.  Target recovery is so much quicker and easier, and I don't need to dig a hole like I was excavating an entire roman villa !  Shocked
A bit pricey, but I think well worth the money.  A good solid build and a loud clear signal.
I have previously had 2 'cheapie' probes that were rubbish - both ended up in the bin Cheesy One of them used to drift off the signal all the time - had to keep re-tuning it - a right pain.
If funds allow, I would definately go for the Garrett.

I completely echo everything Debbie has said. If I'm down over 6 inches or so without recovery then I will always use it. It's saved me a lot of unnecessary digging.
