It's one of the following, Hen II (1a-c)
Richard (3)
John (5 a-c)
That's only 7 to guess from , wonder if the unbarred N has something to do with it, as well as the crown of course  Grin

I dont think its Henry ii either , regular amount of curls either side of head. doesnot match any of the 1a , 1a var , 1b or 1c....and now my eyes hurt , in fact they are bleeding silver tears.

John is correct. Winchester is correct. Nobody has the right combination of moneyer and class yet, although some are correct with one of the two Grin

5a2 has a reversed s , so will say it's 5b, cross patee , but the unbarred N must have something to do with it?

The legend on the reverse of a short cross penny always has the same form:
[MONEYER] ON [MINT]

The reverse of this one reads ADAM ON WINC (although the M is very squashed and looks like an N). So the moneyer is Adam as hedgehog spotted, and WINC is an abbreviation for Winchester. (It can also be W, WI, WIN, WINCE OR WN)

You were right with the Class being 5b, and hh has just got there as well.

For completeness it is Class 5b2, which has a rounded top to the R whereas 5b1 has a flat top.
