ON MANY A RALLY I HAVE SEEN AND HEARED MACHINES BLEEPING LOUDLY , WHY? I CAN UNDERSTAND IF THE HEADPHONES BREAK OR PERHAPS  IS IT TO DO WITH COST?. HEADPHONES ADD GREATLY TO HELP WITH THE FINDS. WITHOUT I BELIEVE YOU LOOSE OUT ON THE FAINT SIGNALS.

perhaps they don't realise how important they are,

i prefer not to wear headphones as i like to be aware of whats going on in the surrounding countryside as well.

many a time i have witnessed the sounds of a fox rustling in the near undergrowth then to emerge close by, sometime with young, before disappearing. then there's the buzzards who frequent our region, what magnificent birds, plus of course the biggest advantage of all is to assit those newcomers to the hobby who have difficulty understanding the croaks and beeps.

each to their own style, but most important of all is respect of each other and the environment in which we walk.

cheers

Personnally,i prefer not to wear headphones, not to annoy other detectorists but purely because i find them uncomfortable, especially in warm weather! Come on guys, get a GRIP ! What next..... Rubber spades,so not to annoy anyone with the CLANG you get when you hit a stone with the metal ones ?   Undecided
