Welcome to the first official DetectingWales.com competition!

The rules are really simple. To enter all you have to do is either have made over 5 posts since DetectingWales.com was formed OR to have made 5 (sensible please) posts before midnight on Sunday 21st December 2008.

To enter, simply estimate how many copper coins of William III, Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, etc cartwheel pennies, pennies and half pennies I have found in 2.5 years of detecting in South Wales. Theres a photo below of them to help you out.

The winner is the closest person to the correct answer and will win a silver pre 1900 Commonwealth coin from my own collection.

I'll give you a clue its more than 5 coins but less than 300 coins.

The closing date for entries is midnight on Christmas Eve. The winner will be announced at midday on Christmas Day.

Good Luck, Happy Christmas and may you have a treasure filled New Year!

Neil

P.S. We plan to make this a regular event and hopefully will have something a bit more substantial for this time next year.

Oi Terry - how did you spot that?!?! Only joking - no container, although they are stacked a bit!

Theres been a couple of close answers, but no ones got it exactly yet. Obviously if no one gets it, closest wins.

Keep guessing those who haven't already.
