Personally Des i feel i already give plenty to charity in one way or another & would feel more comfortable donating to this worth while cause on this sad occasion knowing that the money i gave would be going to the family to assist them in any way they feel fit,i wander how other members feel about this.

Hi stig

You may have point there hes going to be cremated so a wreath would be just for the day.
I know he attended a local church maybe i could like you said tell Chis his wife(hate the word widow) spend it as you see fit.its up to the majority
Thanks for all your kind words i guess like all our wife chris didnt understand the Bond Detetorists have,
I cant drive past a beach without having to stop and talk to the lone detectorist 2 miles down the beach near the water line it drives my wife mad lol
Thank again Guys i know his wife will be amazed by all this affection from Detectorists some who barely Know him

By popular request, when members pay the normal £5 ticket price for the Derek Jones Memorial Blackwood Rally they will have the opportunity of paying an extra £1 as a donation to a memorial fund to be given to Derek Jones' wife.

This donation will be entirely voluntary.

sorry to read about Dereks passing away. My view is that all donations received should be passed onto his wife to help towards the funeral costs.

Like Dig It, i didn't know the guy, but i do respect how close the metal detector community is.

count me in for a donation

Matthew Chapter 6:19-20
19. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

JUST FOUND THIS  AND  THOUGHT  IT  WA  APT  CONCIDERING  MOST OF THE  STUFF WE FIND  IS  OLD  AND  RUSTY
