Hi All

Derek passed away suddenly from a suspected Heart attack Yesterday afternoon while Gardening .
Many will know Derek for his Bad Jokes and great storys mostly from his time as a Policeman in the Abercycnon area.

Derek was a keen detectorist and was a RARE member many years ago only to rejoin 2 years ago after i moved next door but one.
Derek had an email off Neil saying he had a place for the next DW rally in the morning before he died he was looking forward to coming and use his New laser hawkeye for the 1st time ;0(
Many of you would have met Derek at the 2nd DW rally at Caerleon Tall chap white hair he found a bent hammered.
To jog forum members memorys he was on the DW video from Caerleon.

If anyone would like to leave a message
even if you knew Derek or not i know his wife and family would be touched
Id like to print this off to show his wife and family the good friends hes made while detecting and on the Detecting wales Forum as a form of condolance book .

Keep swinging up there Derek
God bless you !

Your Friend
Phil

Please send my deepest sympathies to Derek's family. I only met Derek a couple of times and spoke to him on this website but he was a decent person and was very keen to meet up again at the Blackwood Rally. A sad loss. Neil

Met briefly at Caerleon and thought what a nice genuine bloke. Condolences to the family and a loss to the Detecting community.

thats really sad news  Embarrassed

i think maybe on sunday at the rally we should hold a collection from everyone in the club and either give it to the family or maybe buy something to give to them of flowers for the funeral.

anyone agree??
