Mesolithic flints are smaller better quality better worked. They usually conform to a size of about 3 or 4 centimetre size. Neolithic flints are rougher vary more in size and shape. Will post a picture up for you Digga to explain.

Here you are folks this is a good example of Flint tools and how they are formed in the Neolithic.
