Is this a wind up? I am not convinced it is genuine but the Welsh people involved claim they have found over 5000 assorted silver and hammered coins on Porthkerry Beach which I assume is near Barry. Anyone seen the machine in operation? I swear I thought it was April Fools Day  Roll Eyes

Flaming heck...not a wind up then? It has the swinging action of a strimmer!

Its a total wind up. If you saw the T.V. film you would notice that it has tiny castors underneath.
Just try getting it to move on any normal pasture or especially the beach and Porthkerry has the type of shingle on which you drag a pram backwards as it would just dig in if pushed forwards.

Jon it reminds me of the Electroscope (by Thomas) adverts that were in the front of the Treasure Hunting/Detector User magazines years back.

The headline would be "Electroscope take first , second and third in XXXX Rally". Seemed good. Then you find its a Rally in the States that no one seemed to have gone to. Then you find out that only Electroscopes could enter the rally !

They also had a detects at a distance set up that involved putting in poles round the field. Someone in Cornwall bought the set up (a few thousand pounds !!!). It didn't work. The problem it seems was that the purchaser had tried to use it in a field with wind !
