Can anybody i.d these 2 items please ? i found
them today 1 i know is james 1st shillin want to
know what mint 2nd 1 looks like an umbrella
3 and a half cms in diam 2cms high it has a
little piece of metal inside looks like it is snapped
off something

A very nice James 1st shilling Steve,sorry i cant quite see the mint mark,do you have a better close up ?,the other does look a bit like a bell as Digga said. Smiley

The mintmark is above the middle of the crown on the one side Steve and the shield on the other, looks like it may be a rose , if it is it is 1620/21

I think this shilling is the second coinage, 1605-6, when the rose was also used.
