Hi folks,
Out on an area of pasture on Monday with my son in law, I had my Nox 800, he was using  his Vanquish  540.
Very enjoyable  session including a
Hammered lizzie 1st 3d,
my son in law Turned up what at first glance, while still in the the ground looked like a ring but when out of the plug, clearly was something very different. would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on what  it really is.
I also unearthed what I think is a ? Roman lead weight, and piece of smooth,
pattinated bronze, which looks like a pot leg but is longer than the potlegs I have found in the past. Has anyone come across anything  similar ?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Rees

I think the item that looks ring shaped maybe a reign guide.

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for the reply, that's as likely  as anything I can come up with, makes a change from buckles.
Cheers

The first item is a pipe tamper, Google pipe tamper ring and view the images, quite a few like yours.

Hi Dungbeetle
Just googled pipe tamper as suggested,
Not a bad shout, but as mine has a thread at the bottom I think its probably  a rein guide  as suggested by Geoff.
Many thanks.

Yes A reign guide possibly for side saddle rider.
The screw fits into a fitting near the top of the horses head, Ive got a similar thing but it has a bell and fixing for a plume of feathers. Very much pimp my 'oss
