Hi, somebody in my village has asked which detector is good to buy around the £200 price range. This person has never detected before. Also this is more for his younger son but he will use it too. Any ideas?

Thanks, Jon

They  will not  go far wrong with a Garrett Ace 250 or if they can stretch it a bit the 300i is a more modern version, they hold value if they need to upgrade in the future. Very simple to use.

Agree with Greg - easy to use - and hold value especially if you buy a secondhand one - personally I found the bell ding sound annoying (my brother has one)  - but others on here will tell you how much they have found with them.

I'd also prefer them  over things like the GM 1+ - as they at least have some kind of indicator on them and are easier to gauge whether to dig or not to dig.
