I found this token detecting in a friends
allotment who also lives in merthyr a mile
from his house is this pub named the six bells
its a christmas token which also got six bells
wrote on it is it for a christmas saving club?
or could it be for christmas lunch?i just cant
find any history about it

Have seen pub tokens before Steve, it was a good way of ensuring that money was spent in your pub and not someone else's, that one looks quite modern though!

it certainly looks like a token for a xmas drink in the six bells steve.....may have been given/won (raffle/dart team etc).....maybe a xmas "savings club"...very interesting ...well found....byron

It's a pub check. Nothing to do with Christmas in a festive way though, Christmas Evans was the owner's name. See here:

There was (is?) a pub in Gilfach Goch also called the Six Bells, and as far as I can see was also run by Christmas Evans. I think that Christmas Evans died in 1909, but don't know if he was the same man.

Thanks doc quite pleased with that looks like
i was  barking up the wrong tree for info i have been on that site a
number of times old merthyr tydfil but the penny didnt drop
but in my case the token  Grin
