I'm always amazed at what people manage to find on beaches - how many ring pulls did you have to find for that?

Strange that someone should mention ring-pulls; I can't remember the last time that I got a ring-pull off Talacre sands but I do tend to ocasionally get bottle tops but not too many. The bgest problem at Talacre is WWII dross but fortunately I haven't yet found any left over landmines.

There have been reports of ghosts at Talacre but as of yet I have never bumped into one. I do ocasionally get the odd feeling of being watched but then again many detectorist report similar feelings when detecting inland. I have generally detected predawn and even spent several hours in the dark, looking for a lost ProPointer but after watching the remake of that old movie 'The Fog' perhaps I will be thinking twice before venturing onto the sands alone, in the dark, with a mist rolling in!  Roll Eyes

I've done very little beach detecting - I think my total finds come to 25 pence - a couple of times at Ogmore - where I only seemed to dig up ring pulls and once at Barry where I found a bit of aluminium tubing. Most of those times were with my E-TRAC, and once with a T2.

On the day I was at Barry, someone was getting Viccy silvers near the Prom.

I've been tempted by Swansea beach a couple of times (I did like the videos that used to be posted here) - as I'm technically a student at Swansea Uni, so go there every so often.

Usual problem is that I have my children with me, and so my time - and attention are taken up making sure that I take them home again at the end of the day.

On land I've had very much fewer ring pulls and cow tubes until recently, when I've gone back to 'old' fields to detect more properly after 12 years of learning Smiley - and have dug a lot more up again - what always amazes me is how much shrapnel I'm still digging up after all these years!
