Iíd like to say itís one of these (see link) but I think itís a more modern version.

Donít know why all that gobbly-gook has come up but you can see what Iím aiming at. Gives you at ref point to research 👍

Could still be worth an email and pic to your FLO just to be sure.
I can see a glint if Bronze/copper in you pic. You never know it could be interesting.

That could be encouraging. They say no patina so canít date. Yours hasnít been cleaned so they might have a bash at it.
Give it a try. The more I look at your pic the older I think it might be.

Best of luck 👍

reply from the FLO

'Dear Jan, Thank you for your message. I've been in touch with my fellow FLO in Kent, where the similar object was found, and the consensus is that this is most likely to be a modern brooch, probably Victorian.  In fact he is grateful for having seen your item, since it has meant that he has now been able to update the original  record for the other item, which had previously been listed as an unidentified object.
So although your object is of no great antiquity, and as such is not something that we would normally record for the PAS, you have helped to improve the database by enabling us to update an existing record - so thank you.'

Pleased with that Smiley

Thanks Val for the advice  Cool

What a thoughtful answer  Grin

Slightly disappointing, I felt it could have been older than Victorian by the patina.
But there you have it, from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Now you can get it in the sink and give it a real good scrub. Itís amazing how well some of these bronze/brass objects clean up.

Post us a pic when/if you do 👍

p.s. youíre doing well for a 119 year old   Roll Eyes
