Does anyone have any idea what this could be please  nearly fits my little fingers, so quite small.

I’d like to say it’s one of these (see link) but I think it’s a more modern version.

Could still be worth an email and pic to your FLO just to be sure.
I can see a glint if Bronze/copper in you pic. You never know it could be interesting.

That could be encouraging. They say no patina so can’t date. Yours hasn’t been cleaned so they might have a bash at it.
Give it a try. The more I look at your pic the older I think it might be.

I've been in touch with my fellow FLO in Kent, where the similar object was found, and the consensus is that this is most likely to be a modern brooch, probably Victorian.  In fact he is grateful for having seen your item, since it has meant that he has now been able to update the original  record for the other item, which had previously been listed as an unidentified object.
So although your object is of no great antiquity, and as such is not something that we would normally record for the PAS, you have helped to improve the database by enabling us to update an existing record - so thank you.'

What a thoughtful answer  

Slightly disappointing, I felt it could have been older than Victorian by the patina.
But there you have it, from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Now you can get it in the sink and give it a real good scrub. It’s amazing how well some of these bronze/brass objects clean up.
