Lovely Smiley

I drove past my 'gold hammie' permission a few weeks ago and saw the spud field (which I've never been in) - can't wait Smiley

Ooohhh!  Nice bit of gold. Nothing like it,  well found Andre. And silver on the same day. Lucky you  Grin

Been looking for Hall Marks for the watch but confused by date. Best match could be 1884 with the maker in Birmingham but it doesn’t look quite right. It’s a nice find though.
The rest of it is still waiting for you. Next time out maybe  Wink

Hi Val,for some reason couldn’t post all the photos,I’ll try later because I can’t Id the silver piece. Its like some sort of a round box lid,the hallmark from Birmingham could be 1818 but not sure.
Anyway, the sovereign was a bucket lister and I’m happy as Larry.
Cheers Val

I had assumed it was off a pocket watch. New pic hasn’t changed my mind.

The confusion over the date is caused by the letter ‘U’ in a shield. The nearest I can see for the  ‘U’ is 1884 BUT that one is on a square.
1818 is in a shield but the letter ‘U’ doesn’t look quite right. Plus if it were 1818 there should also be the Queens head in a separate stamp.
The makers stamp looks like H.J . That would be Howard James registered 1882.
Not listed as a makers of Watch cases but things like cigarette cases etc.

It’s an odd one for sure.

p.s. I think it’s more likely 1884 judging by design and popularity. It’s def.    Birmingham

I though so Val.
The shape of the U on a shield is confusing, and lack of the monarch.
Cheers Val.
