Hi all, thanks for the comments. Here is the back Mungo. As there are few people on here, I don't mind if somebody posts this on Facebook to help ID it. Thanks.

PS: The more I look at it now, the more each lower corner looks like an animals head? And if you take it a step further, the two larger circular holes then act as eyes which then gives another overall impression of something looking directly at you?

I can see what you say - and by the mount pin / loop on the back it looks like something that was attached to leather. I'd have said medieval, but maybe it is earlier after all.
