1559 groat looks like a Mary crown not rounded like Elizabeths.
could it be spinks 2508 MARY or 2551 ELIZABETH

Nice find. There were no coins dated 1559 issued. I believe this is a clipped Elizabeth I sixpence of 1569, and wear around the date makes it appear to be 1559.
