I have 2 of the 3 WW1 Squeak and Wilfred because I don't have Pip thy are Known as Mutt and Jeff, they were issued to a Captain R Bowles but there are no service number or regiment on the rim, is this correct for officers

I don’t know the first thing about medals db but I used to have one of my Grandfathers. A big silver one and it had Cpt. W.I.Hoton around the outside rim but no numbers that I remember.
I’m assuming a Captain was an officer so if that’s a guide-line it sounds about the same as yours.

This is perfectly correct for officers, rank and name, but no numbers or regiment. If you have only the silver War Medal and Victory Medal, this may be his full entitlement. But if you have a Star, you are right in thinking one is missing.

I`ve just had a quick look for you and it seems very likely that your medals were issued to Captain Reginald Bowles of the Welsh Regiment. Hope this is of some help.
