The photos don't do the ring justice Ron, it's beautiful to say the least.  Aye it was interesting as it was our first visit to the Coroners Court with regard to a possible treasure item.  Information from National Museum was read out in our presence, then Coroner made her decision and that was it, inquest closed.
Now we'll probably have to wait a few more months to see what the museum offer us for it.  A couple of thousand will be nice please !!!!  Cheers.  Tom

Well done both. Always nice to see how the system works.
Doesn’t it have to go through the valuation committee before the Museum makes an offer ?
Best of luck with the valuation. They’re not  renowned for being generous.

It’s a wonderful find. One of them and a posy ring, well up on my wish list.

Here's an example I found on the net:-

btw, I had a valuation for a treasure item today from the BM - my stuff was valued at £40-£60, which is £40-£60 more than I think it is worth Smiley

Remember that the proviso is 'willing seller, willing buyer' - so based on auction prices - where applicable - although the one I found was from 2010, so probably has gone up since then (although some things go up and some get cheaper).

I was at a coin shop today and there were coins there that were significantly more expensive than I would and do pay for them - I think you will get more than the auction I showed - but they're not my field, so can't really comment any more than that Smiley

I recorded a very similar stirrup ring with Mark Lodwick  a few years ago now and got it back. The only difference to yours was it was missing the stone and made of copper alloy ! Good luck boys you deserve it 👍👍👍

Well as Val said, let's see what the TVC puts on it, I rekon £1200-£1500...it could be also that it's disclaimed ? I know they have been in the pass. Either way beautiful find and worthy of museum display guys. Well done
