Had a dig at a rally over in Wiltshire on the weekend and pulled up this beautiful Tudor dress pin. It must have taken some time to make these. I've made contact with my FLO so wanted to get some nice pictures as I doubt I'll get to keep it but still so pleased to have found it  Grin

I also helped a guy dig a hoard of Roman pewter plates. 7 in total but they had corroded quite a bit unfortunately. Took 2 hours to dig out but was such an enjoyable experience! Just a great hobby!!!

They really are little works of art. Beautiful, would love to find one myself but not likely.
There’s always a chance you’ll get it back after recording. Many smaller items are returned. Fingers crossed. Nice one for the collection  Grin

It could be silver gilt, in which case they’ll send it back after recording. 👍

These pop up every so often.

Most are silver, but are still often returned to the owner/finder.

The last one I gave to the farmer after its return.

Great fine - The bend is deliberate and I think you will find they are meant to be worn in the hair.

The attached are not the same but give you an idea of what I mean.

Thanks for the elaboration Neil. Must be telepathy. I looked at it again last night and wondered how it could have been used on Tudor clothes.
Still not sure why the pin would be bent though !
