hi all, went detecting yesterday, corn stubble, waterlogged and muddy field, the only day that didn't rain so had to take the window of opportunity.
haven't been out for a few weeks so was really itching to go.
Got on said field and right after ground balancing i got this banging tone,i knew it was copper or a copper alloy but because it sounded big i was thinking door knob or something like that and then this beauty came out, apart from the pin missing its in perfect condition,my first one and on an area that i wasnt expecting any roman stuff.
so obviously chuffed.
One to show to my FLO and maybe have it on the PAS

Great find Andre. Looks a little different. Maybe a variant, Romano / British. Might account for it being an unexpected, lonely find.
Be interesting to hear what PAS say about it.

Well found 👍

Very nice example. 1st-2nd cent. AD. Possibly worn by military.

Contact the museum - it's possible there is a backlog because the Numismatist at the National Museum has retired, and they are looking for a school leaver to replace him....
