Doc has ID as (William 1st profile right type) this appears to be one of his rarer ones.

Any chance now Doc of a moneyer / mint.... Wink

Nice find Paul, the legend is hard to read, the mint is almost gone, but i can tell you its london as the right profile, cross and trefoils issue was only struck there..... Great coin Wink

Trying taking a new photo in hand with out the red back ground, it's amazing how that can change the look of a coin, i can see ..PINE ON.. I think

I agree with you Dale that "...PINE ON.." is there.

There were many mints that struck this type though, so not necessarily London.

Hi Peter, when I did the post I was woundering how true it was that the cross and trefoils issue was only struck at London, it's a 20 year old book I have what might need updating!!

Hi  Guys here is an update on the William from Peter Spencer

William 1, type V11, reverse reads- PINE ON LIN, The mint is Lincoln and the moneyer Leofwine or Leufwine. The mint and moneyer combination is extremely rare for the reign/type. Therefore , you have unearthed yet another cracking find.
I'll certainly feature this in The Searcher but I can't say exactly when.
