I had a Exp 2 years age, good machine, i bet the Ctx is on a differant level.

Im looking for a cheap beach detector, i dont think my marriage would last another week if i bought other boys toy so soon lol

Try looking on ,metal detecting guys , you tube channel laser scout on wet sand ect a lot of detector tests on there from a unbiased user.

Ive had a look and a scout looks idea, cheap to buy new and cheap second hand,

Truthfully i personally didn't notice much difference between the explorer and ctx. I personally dont use the gps, only benefit to me is it's waterproof and wireless headphones. seems to be the same depths as the explorer in my opinion

No worries.
The scout seems to work well on the test vid/wet sand.
I owned a XP100 many years ago, when they first came out on market, lived in Cornwall at the time and used this machine on beach wet sand with great success. No chatter on wet. and good depth, it was always known as a decent single frequency beach unit at the time. I would guess the XP 150 which is now on market is maybe as good.
if u can pick up a used XP100/ don't think u would be disappointed.
