I’ve just noticed, AGAIN, I’m talking to myself, or so it looks.

Am I the only one with time or incentive to post anything. Just look at the front page. 5 (that’s five) Val Beechey posts in a row and nobody else here.

Have you all given up detecting or what ?

I have only managed to get out once this year and basically don't have the time to detect at the moment due to other commitments.

Hoping for an October return with a flourish.

Heres a picture of some coin I found a few years ago! I think it was a three year total at the time.

Cheers
Neil

Now that is an impressive haul Neil. And what a mix of ages. Just proves how long this island has been inhabited. Wouldn’t it be great if each coin had a micro comp. chip in it. Just think what stories they could tell.
Know what you mean about commitments etc. I sometimes think fate is deliberately stepping in front of me. In my case, of course, not work but so many other considerations when you get older. (Not to mention a broken ankle)
Thanks for posting Neil  Grin

I'm trying to save this little one, only mother feeding them but could not cope  there were 8 originally 6 died in the box then she disappeared (lots of birds of prey where I live ) another died, and I'm determined to save this one after all the hard work the mother put in.

Well done on effort Geoff. Over the years I’ve raised a Thrush and Staling.
The Thrush was amazing, she became one of the family and would run after my 1st husband like a little dog. I used to take her out into the garden when I was doing anything out there. Weeding was favourite because of anything edible. I remember one day she caught the biggest beetle I’ve ever seen and proceeded to swallow it whole. Of course the inevitable happened the following Spring. She went into the garden as usual but didn’t come back when I called. Some weeks later she appeared in one of the trees with 4 babies. How’s that !
Well worth the effort. Have you tried a small amount of raw mince ? Give the shed a clean and catch a spider or 2 they’ll go down a treat. If desperate a few maggots.
Very best of luck.

I'm still here too - but tbh I've only been out twice this month (and by the way things are panning out I might get out detecting in July) - and found can-slaw.

I've taken a picture of the last field I was in - and when I can get my phone and computer connect (lovely children keep stealing the cables) I'll post it as you did not long back.

Good luck Geoff with the chick, I know how much it means to you and the effort you have put in to caring for them. ATB AJ
