Hello all
So I thought I try a new hobby. A friend in work said why don’t you try metal detecting. I enjoy golf when I play so walking around fields carrying lots of equipment is right up my street. I looked at the reviews of different detectors and decided on the minelab equinox 800. After a 6 week wait which felt more like a lifetime it finally arrived  yesterday Wink  I looked at joining a club and I live in the Abergavenny area of Monmouthshire area but all the local clubs are full. Next on my list is to try and get permissions. Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks
Andrew

Hello Andrew and welcome to Detecting Wales.
Sorry I can’t help much, I’m down South West, near Tenby.
I can help by advising you to get the Manual to say hello to the machine and to start off by using the Pre Set programs to get used to your new toy.
I have the 600 which is much the same. Except you have extra programs.
Start in your garden or a parch of ground near by. Amazing what you can find. As far as clubs are concerned, there aren’t that many in Wales as a whole. Be prepared for waiting lists. Check out the ‘Forum’ top left, for the section on Clubs.
For land, ask around amongst your friends. Someone might know someone else who’s got a small amount of land. You only need to get one permission, it usualy leads to the next.
Never be worried about asking questions,  no matter how trivial they might seem.weve all been at the 1st green in our time.
