As Ron said, we had a great variety of finds on Saturday.  After a cup of coffee with the landowner we headed out to a field which was ploughed, rolled and easy to detect.  It was warm and sunny.  My first finds came within ten metres of the jeep, a few coins.  I managed 23 coins in total and along with Ron's coins we had 36.  Nothing special until I unearthed a hammie of I think may be an Edward 3rd (1327 - 1377) half groat.  Please correct me if I'm wrong!  A few more silvers and lots of coppers added to the total.  Part of a silver spoon and other bits and pieces completed the bag for the day.  We showed all our finds to the landowner before we headed for home.  We also had permission off the landowner to fill the back of the jeep with some some Lime logs which were removed from the avenue to the farm. They were pollarded to save the old and rotting trees.  Great stuff for carving is Lime.  Happy Digging!!!  Tom.

I know you spend a lot more time out there than I do Tom but blimey what a haul. And what a lot of digging! You’ve got some good land to detect.
Well done the pair of you, especially in the heat on Sunday.

Thanks everyone for the positive replies.  If we had a pound for every hole we've dug since we started four years ago....we'd have a few quid by now. lol.   Giving it another go tomorrow, so fingers crossed!!!

Cheers and Happy Digging!! Tom.
