Hi all,  its that time of year again when the stream levels are low and the
gravel banks have all changed since last year. This unusual casting turned up
yesterday, the detector says it's zinc, it won't stick to a magnet and it's not
like anything I've seen before.
Any info would be helpful, thanks
Glyn

Looks like the sort of thing they used have around the top of furniture. The fitting that shows would be about right as well.
I think that style was dated around 1700’s
Unusual find but nice.

Agree - probably furniture or similar decorative fitting, probably Victorian or later. Looks like brass to me rather than zinc.

And of course brass contains zinc (copper zinc alloy).
