I found a gold ring today.
Hoping that someone can tell me what the hall marks mean please?

Hi Landy
Nice gold ring Wink
You've got queen Victoria's head which is the Tax levied mark , The crown which is the  gold standard mark , 22 for the carat and The wheatsheafs for Chester assay office.
A bit obscure ....but I think the date letter is X for 1861.....

Well found Landyman. Agree with nobby but can’t figure out the maker or what the bell is.
The bell may be a comemorative (spelling ?) mark.
One of these days I’ll find one for me. Already found 3 for other people. Nice giving them back though  Cry  Grin

I think that the bell shape may be a letter A. Think the first two marks are either H,A or N,A. Would that be the makers marks?
The last mark is not too clear in the picture but it is a lower case letter "r".

Very nice - I agree that the 'bell' is an A - not sure the 'X' is an 'X' as it looks more like a fancy C to me - didn't the head of the sovereign stop in about 1850 something?

Haven't found the correct goldsmith yet.
