Hi,

In the corner of my field (pasture) there is a metal drainage pipe, I can see the end of it poking out under the hedge, and I would like to try to trace the path of it if possible.

We're between Carmarthen and Llanelli.

Thanks,

Hi there the best way to trace the metal pipe is to use a cat and genny place the genny on the exposed end, flick the cat in to genny mode and make sure your 10 meters away first or the signal will be all over the place. Once you found you target press the  button on top the cat once and it will give you the depth. The genny sends a charge down the steel pipe.

Alternatively someone who lives in that area could volunteer to trace it with a detector i Wink

I did it for the farmer who lost his wedding ring. He asked me to track it while I was there. Open invite to go back but I thought it too far.

Hi try dowsing, the metal pipe may only be the end piece of a plastic or clay drain pipe.
Use 2 L shaped wire rods, don't try to follow the pipe but cross back and forth,
the rods will cross over as you cross over the drain. Will work to a greater depth than
a metal detector, good luck.

Couldn't dowse for it.  There's too much water in the field already.

It's unfortunate no-one can help out.  We have an unscheduled ancient monument that could have been swept too.

Thanks anyway.
