First time out in a little while this morning and whilst finds were very few and far between, this strange little object popped up. It looks old and I'd say the one end once was a loop which has snapped off. If anyone has any clues as to what it could be, let me know  Smiley

Cheers

It's Roman mate and one half of a cosmetic grinder. In a similar style to a pestal and mortar. Missing its suspension hoop and bronze grinder. Lovely female Roman item circa 200ad. Well done.

Cheers

Wow, thanks for the ID Neil. I’m amazed as it was only about an inch deep.

What a superb find. Would the grinder have had a loop also?

Thanks Andre  Cheesy Definitely hoping there's more Roman finds there! If there are Roman potteries close to your permission then fingers crossed there are Roman finds to be found on your permission. Snow is on its way  Shocked
