Im not up with techno things.
I'm wondering if you can use other cheaper dongles, and btooth headphones, with a racer 1?
Probably a stupid question.
Thanks

Hi mate have a look at the Garrett  Z lynk bluetooth  system on YouTube well worth a look.Racer dongles aren't that good you will still need headphones but I believe that's your best route to go.

Don't bother with the "dongle"...it's a waste of time and money...best to invest in some decent wired headphones.."Preditors"..or similar...They work brilliantly with the MAKRO RACER (RED)
Good hunting...👍

I have used the Z-link for about 9 months, one of the battery’s failed after about two months, replaced by return of post by Regton.
Apart from that I think they are excellent and well worth the money, no messing with the tangley wire when you have a difficult to locate item, and no discernible time delay.
If you don’t want to spend that much, bluetooth TX of Amazon for a tenner and bluetooth phones starting about £25 very slight time delay but you quickly get used to it.

Hi Greg,
Can't necessarily agree about "tangly wires"..I agree that you may get wire free movement...but..what I hated was the fiddling around with then when your in the middle of a field trying to re marry the dongle to the headphones with muddy gloves and freezing fingers..and also pouring rain...no!..give me easy set up headphones with dangling wires anyday..good hunting..👍

These are brilliant.. but get them from detectorbits rather than ebay.
Been using mine for over a year and no problems.. no delay either.

Thanks for feedback Chris, your opinion on wireless systems is well documented. I am just trying to give an objective view to  a newcomer, who has asked advice on the subject he is unfamiliar with.
I have used the Z-link for 9 months on Rallies and my permissions and have never had to ‘Marry the dongle to the headphones’. Maybe things have moved on since you last tried wireless.  🚀🛰

Exactly Greg,I am only putting my experiences ..as you are imparting yours..after all isn't that what a forum is meant to provide, two sides up for discussion.. nothing more, nothing less.
Good hunting old chap..👍
