Some years ago, I got permission on a new farm. I was pestered the whole time by the farmer's 9 year old daughter who followed me about, watching eagerly as I dug every single hole and non stop talking. All the same she came out with a comment that has amused me many times since.

'Does my dad pay you for doing this ?'   Oh bliss, it would be an ideal world.

I had a superb site one time. It was good for hammies and all kinds of other reigns. Again the farmers granddaughter used to come over on her quad bike, yes, quad bike and was just so interested. I found signals for her and she dug them and I gave her the goodies to take back and show daddy and granddad. I started to make a collection for her of the different reigns to take to school.
What a lovely tale you all say, how nice.
NO.
One day granddaddy came tearing over his ploughed and seeded field in his land rover and told me to finish, no more digging or detecting. He said there had been complaints.
I never found out what or who but was, and still remain gutted.
