Wow, a great start to my first trip of the new year. Friday I managed a 6hr search on one of my farms, conditions was sticky to say the least on the first 2 fields which produced various finds, its 2 days post finds and the back is still aching mainly due to the amount of mud I was gathering on the boots, every signal I dug involved scraping the spade and coil, but I would do it all again to get these coins. The Denari are of Domitian and the inscription on the other reads TrajonHadrianus. I did have a few grots that ordinarily I would post up but I have confined them to the grot box in order for these little beauties.
Eventually the conditions were too much and had taken its toll on the joints, so a good break and cuppa was called for to recharge. The rest of my search was in a medieval field that was seeded and surprisingly well drained and certainly much easier searching, apart from the usual bits and bobs, lead etc this cracking Saxon Sceat came. I believe it to be a (Woden head) 600-775 AD, series X. crested monster reverse, tail raised to mouth, claws below ? ....its been well struck and I guess a rare coin in this condition at least. Hope you enjoy the pictures.....Spikey.
