thanks for the info/comments  the coin was found near Caerphilly a few weeks ago on a rally with the CELTIC SEARCHERS,  a great bunch of guys and gals I might add they hold lots of rallies regulary almost every 2 wks I have since been informed that this coin is quite rare as it is a forgery and worth more than the coin it was meant to copy what a find. good luck to everyone else on their days out.

the coin is obviouisly supposed to be an irish hammered coin.
however it is certainly a forgery which are often worth more than genuine ones
does not matter what it is. its a nice coin and a brilliant find

I have been reliably informed that the face of the king is a very poor copy if you compare this to others you will see. also the wording on the coin is as if it has been copied by someone who is illiterate. this is not the opinon of one person but several people who are experts on hammered coins. it has now been extensively researched and found to be a forgery.
