I have really tied myself up with work of late, labouring on a friends new house build, maintenance on a small business premises and to top it all I’ve just agreed to decorate the mother in laws hallway, what a muppet, normally I would be detecting this time of year just about every day for a few hrs. Any way for the time being I’ll just have to juggle my time and work around my commitments a bit. Any way as I had Friday free I decided to get out early, so by 7am I was heading over the magical landscapes of the Wiltshire planes, the previous night’s frosts had highlighted many field systems and boundaries which put me in the mood for some searching.  The field I had chosen I knew was in grass, this is a roman hotspot for coins many come up with great portraits, however I was not prepared for the length of the grass (see photo) undeterred I had a quick cuppa, on with the wellies and I set off. I had not walked 50 yards and bang!! A blow out in both wellies, with water pouring in, lucky I had only been detecting slowly so I didn’t lose control!! Lol I remembered I   had a couple of Sainsbury bags in the boot so I popped them over the socks this made my feet sweat and cold, coupled with the long grass causing difficult searching I decided to pack up after an hour or so. A bad start to the day, however plan B saw me rekeying other fields which I knew had been ploughed but did not expect them to have been worked down and certainly detectable, here I managed to spend just about 3hrs before work. Apart from grots and lead these 2 stunning Denari turned up, the first is of old thick neck Vespasian AD 69-79 and the second of Trajan AD 98-117 which came up in the field next door, the Brooch appeared on the way back to the car and was my last signal it is a T shape of 1st-2nd Century. Any way sorry for the long story, keep searching because one day you won’t be able to….Spikey

That hoard eluded you then Paul but not to be deterred you soldiered on and produced finds that we all would love.
You certainly are a brooch magnet. That one is a belter.
Well done again.

Very nice - you've cleaned them well too Smiley

I'm not surprised you had welly problems - I seem to get through loads of them in this game.
