Hi all

I've not really done much beach detecting despite you being able to see the sea from my main permission.....

managed 25p over the last 10 years - usually had the family with me who are impatient and - certainly with the younger ones - need constant supervision......

I was wondering if any of you brave souls have been out since the latest storms - has much sand shifted yet (Barry would be where I went).

Did the RARE (I think) guys find anything on their annual beachathon?

Don’t know about this side of the coast but some of the Cornish beaches have been stripped of about 20ft of sand.
No wonder the pickings have been a bit thin. Anyone down there will have a heck of a time over the next few days.

Ah...Barry if only I had my Soverign Elite with the big WOT coil still, spent many an hour there whipping up lots of Vicky rings mostly 18ct and 22s . Probably get back in to the beaches again end of the year, miss it a lot.... Wink Last time I searched it you had to jump off the slope to get on beach at least 3 ft of sand was off, rocks and metal work showing Vicky coins ever where, not many rings supprisingly, but a few sovereigns came off. As with any beach get it rite and happy days. Good luck if any one goes, may be post up...

With the recent storm blowing in from the west, I'm guessing that it will have piled sand onto the beaches of North East Wales and may "perhaps" have brought stuff in out of the deeps. Anyone seen Talacre, Prestatyn, Rhyl, or Kinmel Bay this week?

In 40 odd years i have had exactly 89 gold rings of varying carat from Barry Island beach.
And 23 from Aberavon...
Barry can still produce the goods in those rare conditions.
As an aside had my only Gothic florin off Barry many years ago.
And hundreds of black discs ie silver joeys.
Paul.
