We were just arranging to travel to hospital for an appointment with the wife's dvt advisor when my new Quest Q40 metal detector arrived but I had to leave it boxed until teatime when we returned home.

Chinese, or no Chines, I was impressed by the build, appearance, and ease of assembly of the machine and had it all together in no time atall. I'm presently charging up the internal battery and the wireless headphones battery ready for giving it a swing in the garden later this week.

Having swapped off the CS4PI and sold on the Garrett EuroAce, I am convinced that the Quest Q40, with it's 9"X11" wide scan Raptor coil and 9.5"X5" Blade turbo D, will make an ideal backup machine for the Safari. It will be interesting to see how the Q40 performs on Talacre Sands and be able to compare it to the other machines. It will sure give my arm a rest from swinging the heavy Safari!

Good morning Chris and thanks for the good wishes. I managed snap up the detector from LP leasure on an interest free loan £32 down and £25 a month for twelve months. It turned out to be the last machine in their stock room and they threw in a few extras as well. In the past I would probably have spent more a month on booze and the lotto, with verry little to show for it.

The Quest stable of metal detectors are pretty much the new kids on the block and coming out of China they appear to be causing a few raised eyebrows. I will post a few pics and some details once I have walsed it round our back garden and done some inair testing.

ps..............I still have a secret list for Santa!  Wink
